The Keptie Bakery was first established 40 years ago on Keptie Street, Arbroath and in 1990 was expanded to Letham.
On 6th December 2010, Allan and Jane bought over the business when the previous owners decided to retire.
With the injection of fresh blood and ideas the business has gone from strength to strength. We have expanded the current product range as well introducing new product lines. We have also improved the quality of our ingredients and the finish of the products to give a higher standard.
We currently have 18 members of staff - 7 in the Arbroath shop, 5 in the Letham Shop and 19 in the bakehouse - as well as Allan and myself working full time in the business.
All staff receive full in-house training from Scottish Bakers where they obtain an SVQ level 2 and a food hygiene certificate. Our apprentice baker has also undergone training from Scottish Bakers.
Our product range covers Bread, Rolls, Savoury, Biscuits, Confectionary, Wedding and Celebration Cakes.
Our business is mainly retail however we have an increasing number of wholesale customers who offer Keptie products. Our deliveries can now cover the Aberdeenshire and Angus area .
Love, sweat, hard work and sometimes even tears go into everything we make and do at the Keptie Bakery. We are very proud to still use traditional techniques and be classed as an artisan bakery. These methods are what keeps the craft bakery industry going and we are delighted to be part of this.
